The Orange County Children's Therapeutic Arts Center (OCCTAC) is honored to be featured in a recent Spectrum News 1 segment by journalist Nikki Kay, titled “Arts School Founder Creates Space for Learning and Self-Expression for Disadvantaged Youth.” The story spotlights OCCTAC’s 25-year legacy of transforming lives through arts, education, and therapeutic programs designed for underserved and neurodiverse children and youth.
Founded by Dr. Ana Jimenez-Hami in 2000, OCCTAC began with a vision to provide equitable access to the arts for children who often face barriers due to economic hardship, developmental disabilities, or limited educational opportunities. Since its founding, OCCTAC has become a hub for creativity, healing, and empowerment, serving thousands of youth and families annually throughout Orange County.
In the “Everyday Hero” segment, Spectrum News showcases how OCCTAC fosters artistic development and personal growth, creating a safe space where children can express themselves through music, dance, visual arts, and therapeutic services. The video also features interviews with students and families whose lives have been transformed through their involvement with OCCTAC.
“To be featured as an ‘Everyday Hero’ by Spectrum News is an incredible honor and testament to the resilience of our youth and the dedication of our team,” said Dr. Ana Jimenez-Hami, Founder and Executive Director of OCCTAC. “As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we remain committed to uplifting every child’s voice through creativity, compassion, and community.”
OCCTAC invites community members, donors, and partners to view the full segment and join in its mission to create a world where all youth have access to exceptional arts and wellness programs.
