Beyond the Music: Eileen’s Berklee Experience
Eileen Perez returned from Berklee’s Aspire Program in Boston with new skills, friendships and confidence. Playing with unfamiliar musicians taught her to listen closely, communicate clearly and step outside her comfort zone. Now in college, she hopes to audition for her school’s jazz band.
“Thank you for believing in me and my skills, for teaching me and letting me chase music.” — Eileen
OCCTAC nominated Eileen, and its Preparatory Arts Music Department covered her round-trip airfare, transportation, hotel and meals before program check-in. RYTMO, with funding from the SPA Education and Music Foundation, covered program room and board. Tuition was provided at no cost through RYTMO’s Berklee City Music Network membership.
