As OCCTAC celebrates 25 years of impact, we are honored to spotlight two extraordinary supporters: Arturo and Susan Echarte. What began as a single act of generosity has grown into a mission rooted in compassion, faith, and the shared belief that every child deserves to thrive.
Arturo, the son of Cuban immigrants, experienced a turning point in his life after a season of burnout. In search of purpose and fulfillment, he picked up the guitar, taught himself to play, and founded Acoustic for Change — a music ministry dedicated to giving back. He began donating his time and refurbished instruments to youth organizations in need.

“I had refurbished several instruments and was ready to donate them,” Arturo recalls.“When I found OCCTAC and saw their work with the children, I knew that’s where they belonged.”
That first donation sparked a lasting relationship. Arturo introduced Susan to OCCTAC’s founder, Dr. Ana Jimenez-Hami, and together they joined the board, supported fundraising events, and became committed advocates of OCCTAC’s mission.
“It’s all about the children,” says Susan. “Especially those who are often overlooked — kids with disabilities, or from low-income families.”

While many nonprofits are doing important work, the Echartes were especially drawn to OCCTAC’s holistic, community-centered approach.
“We raised our daughters with values of inclusion,” Arturo explains. “We encouraged them to reach out to the child sitting alone — to be that friend. But we know many children don’t have that opportunity, especially those who are neurodiverse or face other challenges.”
“OCCTAC doesn’t just serve kids — they serve the whole family,” Susan adds. “From children to parents to older adults, OCCTAC uplifts the entire community. That kind of wraparound care is rare — and incredibly needed.”
Alongside their nonprofit work, Arturo and Susan co-own Postal Center International (PCI), a leading printing and marketing company headquartered in South Florida, with additional locations in Texas, Massachusetts, and Indiana. Despite their success, their business philosophy has always centered on respect, service, and impact.

“We never imagined our company would grow as it has,” says Susan. “But what’s remained constant is our belief in treating others with dignity.”
“We are a Christian family,” Arturo adds. “We’ve always believed the real value in life comes from how we serve others — not from what we accumulate.”
The Echartes’ support of OCCTAC is grounded in one core belief: every child deserves to be seen, heard, and supported.
“We hope our support helps children who might otherwise be left behind,” says Susan. “We want them not just to reach expectations — but to exceed them.”
“With the right environment and enrichment,” Arturo adds, “there are no limits.”
Looking ahead, they envision even greater things for OCCTAC.
“In the short term, OCCTAC needs a building of its own,” says Susan. “Long-term, we’d love to see this model expanded across Southern California. The need is there — and so is the opportunity.”
As we celebrate this milestone year, we asked the Echartes what message they’d like to share with the OCCTAC community:
“You can’t take it with you — make a difference now.” — Arturo“Let’s pave the way together. The children deserve it.” — Susan

With heartfelt appreciation, we proudly recognize Susan and Arturo Echarte as Dream Maker Sponsors during our 25th Anniversary Celebration.
