“Despite the pandemic and all the constraints it brings to keep everyone safe, there's no stopping the eagerness and enthusiasm of my four-year old daughter, Lileana. I'm so thankful we have the Alphabet Soup program at OCCTAC as part of our weekly routine. My daughter is able to engage with her peers safely through online classes, but more importantly she is able to continue building on the fundamentals of school readiness through the devoted guidance of Ms. Claudia. I watch in awe as my daughter gets crafty and inventive all while learning her alphabet and numbers in this “new normal” we are all having to go through. Thank you OCCTAC for working harder than ever to keep providing for our children!”

Heidi's Alphabet Soup

“Wow, that's great mom!” That was Heidi's response when she learned that she would return to Ms. Claudia's class. A year ago, we had already finished the toddler session with her. Heidi was attending Preschool when our daily lives turned upside down like everyone else’s… thus ending her school year online. Pre-kinder is starting, but as a family we have decided to leave her at home, waiting for a healthier environment. The same day that we notified her school that she would not return and while we were getting organized in our homeschool… Ms. Claudia called us offering ALPHABET SOUP. What better complement to our new routine! Heidi couldn’t wait to share and play with more children after 6 months.
Heidi marks the class days on her calendar, and enthusiastically prepares her supplies, especially art supplies. She has really enjoyed the transformation of her letter H into a Horse, the magic letters that appear with watercolor, and being able to trace numbers and letters with pastel pencils that are only for big children!

I am a proud parent of a four-year-old that takes the Alphabet Soup class online with Mrs. Claudia. My child, Nova, has experienced amazing fun connections with her peers in Alphabet Soup. Nova’s literacy skills have improved and her bilingual skills have also improved. She is not only fluent in English but now she has been able to learn Spanish. She is excited every day for class and looks forward to the hands-on sensory days and stories. Her favorite story so far has been “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” and making the beautiful coconut tree with alphabet letters. Her favorite projects are the sensory projects as well as making her awesome tempura alphabet soup placemat. Thank you for all the fun memories!
