OCCTAC News - Happy Holidays!

From everyone at OCCTAC Artist: Roberto Reyes / Autism - Age: 13

OCCTAC is here because of your love, generosity and support of our mission! Together, we were able to accomplish so much this year. Thanks to your help, we were able to serve over 6,500 children and youth, and over 200 adults from low income communities, by providing artistic, educational and therapeutic programs all year long!

Thank you! Happy Holidays & Happy New Year!

Holiday Recital 2018

On Sun Dec 16th, our Prep Arts Academy students, including special needs, performed in our annual Holiday Concert at OCSA’s Symphony Hall in Santa Ana. The student performances included a variety of numbers including piano, guitar, strings, dance, and others.

They brought down the house in their amazing finale, “Las Posadas”, including an ensemble cast complete with the 3 kings rewarding our audience with candy!

Congratulations on an incredible show, students, you give us joy!

"I couldn’t begin to explain all the wonderful gifts @occtac has given my family. The “Early Start” program with the amazing teachers Claudia and Clemente have given our daughter a head start in socialization, communication and interaction well before the traditional Pre School and Kindergarten levels of conventional education. Early Start has exposed our daughter to speak three languages to varying degrees, but what’s most important is the way her brain has learned to integrate so much information which leads to greater comprehension. Thank you #OCCTAC for all the blessings this holiday season. A Merry Xmas to All!"

End of Rotation - Students' Art Shows

In partnership with the Santa Ana Unified School District, Extended Learning Program, OCCTAC art students celebrated the end of their 8-week art program with culminating art shows at 6 elementary schools. Students studied the visual art and sculptural art of living master artist Yayoi Kusama, an iconic visual artist whose pop art and minimalist style is currently on display at the Broad museum in Los Angeles. Teaching artists and student artists curated their shows and created stunning installations, including replicas of Kusama’s famous “Infinity Room” that showcased their Yayoi-inspired papier mach pumpkin sculptures.  Each Teaching Artist awarded an OCCTAC Talent Scholarship to one student artist who showed enthusiasm and dedication to pursuing their artistic dreams. Congratulations, artists!

Early Intervention Services for Older Adults (EISOA) Thanksgiving Celebration

On November 17, the EISOA Program celebrated Thanksgiving at the Santa Ana Towers. This was a month for Giving Thanks to what we have received during the year. The Thanksgiving luncheon celebration brought our participants together and gave them the opportunity to be part of a big family. In this celebration, in total 46 of our participants, those who still are attending our classes, the case managers, volunteers and family members all came together to share a cooked meal from the case managers, danced and all received presents. They had the opportunity to socialize and enjoy each minute during the celebration.
